School of Psychology Degree programmes

Certificate and Diploma Programmes in Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CBT) BABCP accredited level 1

Applications for January 2018 are now open.

A one year postgraduate Certificate in CBT is available to professionals working in mental health. The programme provides training in robust and structured interventions for mental health and closely adheres to the competency framework for CBT. All training is delivered by BABCP accredited practitioners including international experts in the field. Acquisition of skills is ensured through a variety of teaching methods, supervised practice and assessed clinical work. Students completing this programme have an excellent grounding in CBT.

The Certificate in CBT runs between January and September and consists of 14 training days together with supervised practice and assessed work.

The postgraduate Diploma in CBT is available as a second year following on from the postgraduate Certificate and enables health staff to develop further competence in high intensity CBT. Students completing this programme have a high level of clinical skill in CBT.

The second year runs between January and September and is delivered through 14 specialist supervision sessions and assessed clinical work.

Both programmes are accredited by BABCP at Level 1 indicating that they provide high quality training. Some further criteria would have to be met for full practitioner accreditation with BABCP.
