Research summary

Dan is a PhD Student at Cardiff University, working on his thesis which hopes to explore the public acceptability of low consumption lifestyles and degrowth through a mixed-methods research design that incorporates deliberative focus groups, future scenario vignettes and framing experiments. Whilst he is based in the School of Psychology his research incorporates theory from socio-economics, political science and sociology.

Previous research history has primarily had a focus on environmental issues, located with the Understanding Risk Research Group.. Having worked on CASPI, BRISKEE and UKERC concerned with Pro-Environmental Behavior, Low-Carbon Lifestyles, Energy-Efficiency and Energy Transitions. He has also worked for a thinktank in Brussels conducting research on Youth Issues.

As a post-graduate Tutor at Cardiff University, he delivers seminars to undergraduates for their Research Methods skills and report writing.

Additional responsibilities include his appointment as a council member of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, representing the Tyndall Early Career Network (TECN), and helps to organize events for the centre on a regular basis.
