Research summary

My research looks at how networks of cortical and subcortical brain areas implement cognitive-behavioural control processes. I employ MRI brain imaging techniques in combination with experimental-cognitive techniques to study both clinical and non-clinical populations. My research focuses on studying changes in cognition and in the brain related to:

  • Cognitive and behavioural training
  • Healthy and pathological ageing
  • Lifestyle and genetic risk of dementia
  • Neurodegeneration in particular Alzheimer’s disease and Huntington’s disease.

My research aims to understand the risk factors and early warning signs for later life dementia and to develop and evaluate training interventions to promote successful ageing and prevention and delay of disease.

Teaching summary

I supervise final year project students and first year personal tutees.
